Trust Subject Lead: Jon Lenton

Jon joined Cheshire Academies Trust as Vice Principal of Boughton Heath Academy at the start of 2019. Following this he was made Acting Head of School and was successfully appointed as Principal from September 2021, being sponsored by CAT to undertake the National Professional Qualification for Headship throughout this time. Currently, he is the Acting Executive Headteacher of Boughton Heath Academy and Mill View Primary School.

Having a huge passion for technology and how it can be used to support working and learning in schools, he heads up our AI hub for teachers; supporting them to minimise workload, whilst ensuring innovative teaching provides the best learning opportunities for pupils. Jon wants to continue this by developing bespoke AI tools for the trust schools and beginning to incorporate these alongside virtual reality within classrooms.

Jon has extensive teaching experience and has held senior leadership roles throughout the primary phase. He has been both a local authority advisory teacher for Computing and a Specialist Leader of Education for Writing with CLTA.

Purpose

Within the CAT AI Hub, our goal is to integrate artificial intelligence technologies into our primary classrooms to enhance teaching and learning, whilst also supporting our staff with CPD and workload reduction kits. As members of this hub, we hold meetings which anyone across the Trust is welcome to attend, creating a dynamic environment to share innovative practices using the exciting and rapidly changing field of AI. Additionally, we conduct professional development workshops aimed at equipping educators and school staff with the technology skills they need to use AI to support them in their roles within educaiton; be this operations, finance, compliance or delivery.

To keep on the pulse of such a vast and rapidly changing field of technology, we develop and maintain an extensive library of resources and AI teaching aids, providing staff with the necessary support to effectively implement AI-driven solutions in their classrooms and schools. We also offer targeted AI driven support to settings, and have created bespoke solutions for schools upon request.

At the core of the CAT AI Hub is our commitment to pioneering excellence in AI education across the Trust. By championing a culture of innovation and perpetual growth, we aim to enhance the capabilities of our staff and significantly enrich the educational journeys of our pupils.'
