Teaching Synthetic Phonics
This event will take place between 9:30am and 3:30pm on 08/11/2018.
Synthetic Phonics, also known as inductive phonics, is a method of teaching reading, which first teaches the letter sounds and then builds up to blending these sounds together to achieve full pronunciation of whole words.
This is an interactive workshop covering the whole of Letters and Sounds with activities designed to give teachers the opportunity to explore key ideas in supporting children in Foundation Stage 2 and Key Stage 1.
- An outline of the expectations for each phase of Letters & Sounds, including new curriculum expectations
- A look at the pedagogy of synthetic phonics e.g. the teaching cycle
- Tackle some of the technical vocabulary and subject knowledge requirements
