Eligibility & Selection Process

How we select our future teachers

The initial stage is via application. Successful candidates are then invited to interview.

Qualifications

A UK undergraduate 2:2 degree or a recognised equivalent qualification

A GCSE grade C or above in English

A GCSE grade C or above in mathematics

A GCSE grade C or above in a science

If you studied outside of the UK, you should visit the National Academic Recognition Centre (NARIC) website to find out whether your qualifications are of an equivalent level to UK GCSEs, A levels and an undergraduate degree.

Interview process

A typical interview involves:-

  • a learning activity with a group of children
  • a five minute presentation
  • a formal interview

As a minimum, we would like candidates to have some experience of working with children and have a strong understanding of Primary Education before making their application.

 Applicants must also pass their Professional Skills Tests in Literacy and Numeracy before the start of the programme in September.

The course is non-salaried and tuition fees are paid to the University of Chester with whom we have built a School Direct partnership.
